Coral Reef Targeted Research: Diseases Working Group

The overall objective of this group is to understand anthropogenic and climate drivers of coral disease, while the endpoint to reduce/control impacts of coral disease.

The main elements of the project are:

o Integrated molecular and classical epizootiology: pathogen id and dynamics
o Detect anthropogenic disease drivers through monitoring stratified over relevent environmental variables (eg nutrients)
o Lab/ field experiments to detect thresholds in anthropogenic environmental variables
o Climate: monitoring of permanent plots to detect climate drivers
o Climate: Correlate worldwide number days bleaching with disease impact
